Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Sheffield United

Good – home shirt 1992 – 94
Blades fans will have mixed memories of this shirt. It was worn in the first season of the Premier League and Brian Deane wore it when he nodded home the first ever goal in Premier League history.

United would go on to reach the FA Cup Semi-Final that year before losing to arch-rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley.
It was then worn in the following season when United were relegated in the final minutes of the last game of the season.
The shirt was manufactured by Umbro and had a classy lace-up retro collar. Manchester United and Aston Villa also had the same lace-up design in the same season as their shirts were also manufactured by Umbro.

Bad – away shirt 1998/99
My team Aldershot Town currently wear this colour scheme for their away shirt and I despise it!
United fans probably felt the same about this away shirt during the 1998/99 season. The shirt was worn in their infamous FA Cup tie with Arsenal that was abandoned following a controversial winner from Marc Overmars. The tie was replayed a few days later. The goal was featured in number 16 of the ‘Iconic Moments in Football’ and can be found here.

Ugly – home shirt 1995/96
This ugly shirt came out for the 1995/96 season and was a real disaster of a design!
The shirts design was made up of red and white diamonds with thin white stripes down the shirt. Luckily for the Blades fans, the shirt was gone the following season.
