Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Wycombe Wanderers

Roy Essandoh, Wycombe’s hero of their Sixth Round tie at Leicester City

Good – away shirt 1999 – 2001
I had to choose this shirt in the ‘Good’ category as it was worn in Wycombe’s finest hour. They wore the shirt when they beat Leicester City in the FA Cup Quarter Final in 2001.
It is the same design as their sky and navy blue home shirt but with red and white as the alternate colours.

Bad – goalkeepers shirt 2017/18
I have resisted the temptation several times to feature a goalkeeper’s shirt in this series but this shirt cannot go without a mention!
Based on a kaleidoscope design, this multi-coloured shirt isn’t a nice shirt at all. Even Wycombe’s goalkeeper Scott Brown looks decidedly unsure in the promotional photo above!

Ugly – home shirt 1987 – 89
This shirt was worn for two seasons and is definitely an ‘Ugly’ shirt.
Wycombe were still a non-league team in the late 80’s and the shirt definitely looks non-league!
I borrowed this picture from the excellent website www.historicalkits.co.uk
