Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Blackpool

Some of the Blackpool players after winning the 1953 FA Cup Final

Good – Home shirt 1952 – 1955
Blackpool famously won the 1953 FA Cup in this shirt, coming back from 3-1 down to win 4-3. It was known as the Matthews Final but Stan Mortensen scored a hat-trick in the game.
The shirt was a simple affair, with a big white button-down collar. The shirt was a plain tangerine colour and a large club crest on the top left.

Blackpool’s home shirt from the
1989/90 season

Bad – Home shirt 1989/90
This shirt made by King Sports and sponsored by Bass was only worn for the one season and looks quite similar to the Holland shirt of the same era.
Sadly for Blackpool fans, the design wasn’t the same as Holland’s and was made up of diamonds in several different shades of tangerine!

Blackpool’s away shirt 1991 to 1993

Ugly – Away shirt 1991 – 1993
Blackpool’s fans had to be subjected to this monstrosity for two seasons in the early 90’s.
The shirt was white with two-tone blue dashes across it. The sports brand Gola made it and looking at this shirt, it makes me think that they should have stuck to making boots!
