Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Watford

John Barnes in the 1984 FA Cup Final

Good – home shirt 1983 – 85
In terms of Watford shirts, there could be no other shirt that could be better than this in my opinion.
It was worn during Watford’s historic run to their first ever FA Cup Final in 1984 and was worn in the Final itself. A plain yellow body with black and red cuffs. The V-neck collar was red, black and yellow and the shirt oozed class.

Bad – home shirt 2015/16
This shirt has to be one of the worst home shirts in Watford’s history. The horizontal black stripes that run down the shirt look horrible. The stripes at the top of the shirt are thin and become thicker further down towards the bottom. A very poor design that Watford fans were lucky enough to only have to deal with for only one season.

Ugly – away shirt 1993 – 95
Another early-mid 90’s shocker here and definitely one to try and forget for Watford fans!
It was difficult to track down a picture of this shirt being worn during a match but I’m sure that there is one out there somewhere! I had to use this picture from the excellent website www.vintagefootballshirts.com who have hundreds of shirts on display.
