Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Swindon Town

Good – home shirt 1991 – 93
It was in this shirt that Swindon beat Leicester City in the 1993 Play Off Final at Wembley in a tremendous match that finished 4-3.
I wrote a review of this successful season in the ‘A Season to Remember’ and it can be found here.
The shirt was simple and smart with a plain red design and white collar and cuffs. The collar had a thin red stripe around it and was one of the smartest shirts of the era.

Bad – home shirt – 1987 – 89
After four seasons of vertical pinstripes, the idea of a new shirt for the 1987/88 shirt must have filled the Swindon fans with optimism.
However they must have been disappointed by this effort from shirt manufacturers Spall.
Diagonal stripes never look good and this shirt is no exception. There were a lot of shirts like this one in the 1980’s but that’s no excuse!

Ugly – away shirt 1991/92
This shirt is so ugly! The strange 3D patterns all over the shirt are an eye sore and if the shirt was just a plain bottle green then it would look better.
