Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Northampton Town

Good – away shirt 2017/18
This shirt was voted by my daughter as the best Northampton Town shirt of the last forty years and it’s difficult to disagree with her on this.
A plain black away shirt manufactured by Nike with white collar and cuffs makes the shirt look really smart. The University of Northampton sponsored the shirt and their name was written in white lettering across the front.

1998/99

Bad – home shirt 1998/99
The sports brand ProStar are to blame for this awful design!
Made up of vertical maroon and white stripes, the maroon faded in to spots made up of lighter shades in the middle of the shirt.
Prostar stamped their mark with a star on both sleeves and inside the collar.

Ugly – home shirt 1989/90
Northampton beat First Division Coventry City in this shirt in the FA Cup in 1990 so their fans will have good memories of it.
I can’t believe that they would have liked the shirt though as just looking at the wavy pattern induces a migraine!
