Striker Bob Latchford was born on this day in 1951.
The former Birmingham City, Everton and England striker scored 235 league goals in 550 games for 8 different clubs. Latchford scored 5 goals for England in 12 appearances for his country.

Latchford finished Birmingham’s top goalscorer in 1971/72 when they won promotion from the Second Division and followed that up with being their top goalscorer again the following season in the First Division.

A British record £350,000 move to Everton followed in 1974 and Latchford would finish Everton’s top goalscorer for four successive seasons from 1974/75.
Everton would reach the final of the League Cup in 1977 and this would be the closest that he got to winning a major honour.
