Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Charlton Athletic

Charlton’s original 1992/93 shirt on the left with the 25th anniversary shirt on the right

Good – 25th Anniversary Back At The Valley commemorative shirt 2017
This shirt was a remake of the shirt that Charlton wore in their first season back at The Valley.
The shirt had the scorer of the first goal at the Valley and the date and time that it was scored printed on the back. Printed inside the shirt was the names of each of the players who featured in the first season.
The original shirt back in 1992 was manufactured by Ribero and the 2017 version by Hummel. 500 of the shirts were made available for purchase at a cost of £75.
The shirt was only worn the once by Charlton, against Portsmouth on December 9th 2017.

Charlton’s away shirt from
1996-98

Bad – Away shirt 1996 – 1998
This isn’t one of Charlton’s greatest shirts. Sponsored by Viglen, this white shirt had a rather unattractive green and purple vertical stripes down the left hand side. It was used for two seasons, between 1996 and 1998.

The ugly third shirt from the 1997/98 season

Ugly – Third Shirt 1997/98
This shirt looks more like one seen on a rugby pitch than a football pitch. Green and white thick vertical stripes, narrow red stripes and a red collar. One ugly shirt that is best left in the late 90’s!
