Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Brighton & Hove Albion

This season’s home shirt

Good – Home shirt 2019/20
I have searched through the various kits that Brighton have worn over the years and this season’s home shirt is my favourite.
The design is quite straightforward with vertical blue and white stripes on the body and blue sleeves. Nike made the shirt and their logo is on the right hand side of the shirt in gold.
The main sponsor of the kit (and Brighton’s stadium as well!) ‘American Express’ is emblazoned horizontally in blue lettering on a white strip.

Bad – Away shirt 1990/91
This kit is definitely questionable and as you can see above, was worn in the 1991 Play Off Final at Wembley.
It must have been awful to have worn such a horrible shirt and I’m sure that not many of the fans would have bought one! The red and white design was on both the shirt and shorts and looked like one of the magic eye puzzle that were popular at the time.

The 1989/90 away shirt

Ugly – 1989 Away shirt
Well this was the easiest decision that I’ve had to make since I started writing this series!
Red and white squiggly lines that hurt your eyes when you look at it and is almost migraine-inducing. I felt even worse for the Brighton fans when I saw that the next away shirt that was brought out was the one in the ‘Bad section’ on here!
