On This Day – 3rd June
It was on this day in 2006 that England demolished Jamaica 6-0 in a warm-up friendly before the 2006 World Cup.
The choice in opposition was probably due to the fact Trinidad & Tobago were in England’s group at the World Cup. Playing another CONCACAF side would give them a better idea of what they would be up against in a few week’s time.
Peter Crouch sored a hat-trick and also missed a late penalty. Frank Lampard and Michael Owen also got on the scoresheet and Jamaica’s Jermaine Taylor also put through his own net.
