Billy Wright leads England out against Scotland at Wembley in his 100th appearance for his country

It was on this day in 1959 that England captain Billy Wright won his 100th England cap. In doing so, he became the first player in world football to be capped 100 times by their country.

Wright’s century was made in a 1-0 win over the Auld Enemy Scotland at Wembley. In all, Wright was capped 105 times by England, with 90 of those games as captain!
