Wimbledon played their first ‘home’ game at the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes on this day back in 2003.
Burnley were the visitors and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

The club had moved from their temporary home of Selhurst Park, home of Crystal Palace where they had played their home games since 1991.
The move to Milton Keynes came after years of endless speculation of whether or not they would move to the town in Buckinghamshire.
In the 1990’s, there was even talk of the club moving to Dublin in Ireland but Milton Keynes remained a constant location in the press.

Wimbledon would become MK Dons in June 2004 after gaining permission to change their name from the Football League.
